Sally B (aka Memphis Belle) and her escort Ferocious Frankie.

You will probably spot the Mustang is slightly blurred. I could have made a composite image with both of them sharp, but as it is, this is 'natural' and I suspect the mustang is slightly blurred due to the slow shutter speed and parallax effect making the tracking speed for each aircraft different (I tracked Sally).

Well done at that shutter speed Neil. My hit rate for focus on the B17 is lower than with other aircraft, I suspect it may be her colour or the matt finish.

The aircraft move relative to each other, so a much higher speed would be required to get both sharp, but then you'd lose the prop movement. Sod's law or something like that Smile
Prefer natural to superimposed even though that would actually be closer to how we actually see it.

Thanks both.

The shutter speed was a very concious decision, more than enough light on Saturday to go faster. Also have some of her without a blurred companion, but I preferred this one.

Not had a problem with focusing on the B-17 Nigel. The Bearcat has been a bit of a unicorn for me at previous airshows though, as I have struggled to get focus on it, but managed to get a couple on Saturday that I am happy with.
