I was demonstrating to my wife where a person may find material for stock photos. I took this while waiting for the waitress in a cafe in Epson,NH with a "point and shoot Nikon.

I agree with the sentiment, but.....
It's very stark. The lighting needs to be more controlled, and I feel a small reflector (the back of the menu?) off to the left would help even it out a little. The salt in the bottle is textureless, and might benefit from light more from the side (quite hard with only a fixed flash).
Also, the bottle in the background needs moving away, and maybe a slightly looser crop. As it is, it's unbalanced off to the right. A little "dead space" RHS might help balance the composition, as would a higher angle with the bottle coming toward you diagonally.
The idea is fine, but the limited equipment hampers the execution.

Unlikly to be accepted as stock. Mono for a start, most now need colour, they can make them mono if necessary. You would need better directional lighting and tight biting sharpness. However, the idea is right. Much stock imagery is rather different to that we take for general use.
