Moira, thank you SO much for your User Award on ‘The Sunbather’. Unbelieveable
Alrighty, people…the original shot was taken a while back…29th September 2011. I stumbled upon it recently and decided to have a play with it today for Saturday Shadows.
Couldn't decide which to put first. What do you reckon?
Doesn't really matter, obviously...this is just for fun. Just wondering on your preference, s'all
Colour for me, Andrew, it is such a lovely dusky pink, seems a shame to take its colour away Great shadows, too. Carol
I like v1best also like the way you caught the reflections.
A fascinating shadow photograph : the flower itself is delicate, the shadow dark and almost threatening. I think the effect is more pronounced in the colour version: pink is a more delicate tone than white but that is less evident in monochrome (to my eyes at least).
Thanks for your continued support of Saturday Shadows, a totally unofficial 'challenge' that has persisted for 18 months or so and , with offerings like yours, grows stronger every week.
V1 - very subtle, I think you've reduced saturation by about 50%, it works. It's about the flower first and foremost.
V2 seems a totally different picture. It's about the shadow.
Can't decide between them, both beautiful, and well thought out.
If the point of thew image is the shadow then it has to be the mono, otherwise the focus is on the lovely delicate pink of the flower (think that's just what Moira's said as well )
I like the soft tones of v1 and the way the background complements that beautiful dusty pink rose. Lovely stuff Andrew!
Definitely V1 for me Andrew !! A lovely image !
Colour for me Andrew. I love a climbing rose and this is so delicate. The pink of the petals is matched by the pink of the floor tiles and that's why I prefer V1 I think.
BIG THANKS for the UA. My little squirrel became more popular than I ever thought he would. But then, he did have exceedingly impressive attributes.
You made the right choice Andrew, the colour is excellent.
tend to go with Moira on this one .....
she just says it so well
I would love to be able to give you 2 votes as each one has its own story....
so sorry it has to be a half vote each ....
Such a beauty! Both variants work very well. Double click!
I prefer colour but the mono version emphasises the shadow much better.
The shadow works so much better in the mono version, but it is a super pink rose - I think I will be sitting on the fence with this one, which is where I started the day
I so love the colour of the rose in V1 Andrew, so delicate & lovely, but for the whole photo, I have to go with the mono version...you have really captured the shadows so well.....
I love the desat color version--- some great shadows!
V1, colour for me. Both have great shadows........Sandy
I love the coloured version Andrew, the top half of the image with the flower detail so crisp and delicately toned, the bottom half with those lovely soft and gentle tones of the paving with that glorious shadow!
I like the dramatic mono too!
V1 for me Andrew, but I do really like the mono too!
V1 for me as has both the lovely pink flower AND the shadow.
These look great Andrew, I prefer V1 and must say they've got a nice vintage look to them.
very well seen......excellent work...both of it
cheers for your comments.....
wonderful matching colours!
and I like the little critter
I like them both Andrew but naturally prefer the colour version. How about indulging in a little 'gimmickry' and trying a colour popped version with just the rose in colour. I think it's soft colour would make it work well.
The colour version holds the greater appeal Andrew but the shadow is stronger in the mono
