Taken just before my sons 2nd birthday. He'd found my point and shoot and was playing with it.
Had also just got my first speedlight. so any comments on lighting etc greatfully received

I like this one better than the one currently in the Critique Gallery, Chris. Your son holds the viewer's attention because he is doing something, and looking straight ahead. I think that if you could have got just one of his eyes in view, it would provide a connection with the viewer, too. The costume is fun, but those big eyes are an enormous distraction. Also, if you have a plain wall, door or sofa, it would make a better background. Your flash looks ok but has given you a strong shadow on the door, and has also made those big bug eyes much brighter.

Thanks for your comments. Looking closer at the background I see what you mean about the background, unfortunately for me they were both taken quite spontaneously so I couldnt really select the ideal background. My son has hit that terrible 2 and won't do what we ask so posing him is out of the question Grin I'll try and work on my composition
