Rear lighting bounced from a lastolite white reflector positioned at 45 degrees over the subject to provide a softbox type effect.

Canon 550EX bounced from the camera

I find it flat and slightly underexposed. The huge area of reclection/shadow on the front doesn't do it any good either. But thats just my opinion.

It's not a shadow- it's the reflection othe scallops on tthe plate.

Bubbling- that would be the chapagne foam garnish!

I tend to agree with Cole on this. The photo is basically sound, IMO, but could do with a bit of work. I've uploaded a mod.

It is a little bland and the cappuccino sauce looks very uninviting. With natural light being so 'in' with food photography at the moment, I'm surprised that chef's are letting you use flash so much.


CB's mod does sort the levels out to some extent.
