Ok, so it was 3 weeks between uploads the last time. Now it’s down to 19 days. I’m improving!
All’s well over here and I have news. Some weeks ago I had won 250 pounds in a lottery and had decided to spoil myself with a new cam. ‘Spoil’ as it’s something I didn’t ‘need’. And certainly something I felt I didn’t deserve, whatwith there being SO many pics in my archives I have yet to attend to…and me just being photographically slack this year, s’all.
Long story short, it was down to two choices.
Nikon L120 for its superzoom (175 pounds)…and that would’ve been soooooo fun with 500+ mm at the far end. Being able to get pics of the sunbirds, etc. BUT, the keyword was ‘fun’. It’s still a compact with a compact’s sensor and was not a step forward.
The other option was a step forward…something I fell in love with when it first came out but I couldn’t afford it. They’ve been clearing stock everywhere last month and it’s been going for 280 pounds. I got it for 270. I finally took the plunge after LOTS of reading up online (on the two cams) and deliberating and tormenting myself…
…and got myself (as a birthday present) the Olympus Pen E-PL1 (with the 14-42 kit lens). Not quite a DSLR but the sensor size and full manual control and being to shoot RAW are a huge step up from my two compacts. And I have to say that I LOVE this cam. [Although I think deep down I’m still a digital compact camera and a film SLR guy]
Here are some clouds I took from the driveway. Taken in iAuto mode at various focal lengths and all straight from the cam (apart from V1 cropped top and bottom).
By the way, thanks for the birthday wishes PM, Andylea
PS Sorry for the long ramble everyone!
