Taken on the Kent Marshes. Was trying to get some shots of Reed Warblers, but only located the Sedge Warblers. Still a first so quite pleased after quite some time keeping a low profile.
Thanks for looking.

Depth and detail are great, but for me it's missing something, but I'm sorry to say I can't quite decide what that something is.

Looks like you have captured some good detail here Kevin, however I am wondering what you have done to the BG as it looks very blurred (especially viewed large) rather than the normal small DOF to isolate the bird,
Geoff.

Hi Geoff. It was handheld on manual focus. The reeds behind could have been a lot further back, but other than that I don't know. I couldn't focus on auto because of the wind blowing the reeds contiuously.

Hi Kev, that could explain things to a degree. I'm not sure what method of focusing you use but I shoot in similar conditions and auto focusing works fine. Have you tried locking the focusing sensor in the middle, focus on the eye and whilst holding the shutter half cocked re compose and shoot, auto focus works fine for me using this method, also it would help if you included shooting speed, aperture used etc,
Geoff.

Hi Kev , well done 1stly on a great capture as i know only too well ,how hard it is to take one of these little fellas when they twitch, plus theres the movement of wind on the reeds to cope with.I think its a wonderful shot and the bird is placed well in the frame .
well done my friend Smile
