A rather more contemporary form of photography for todays upload. This photo-merge was captured from the top of the hill at Greenwich Observatory, its self famous throughout the world as being the point of GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). The image looks down towards Greenwich Naval College, now home of Greenwich University, and across into the sprawling City of London.
Whilst I have the opportunity, I must thank you all for your most supportive comments and votes following not only yesterdays upload 'Blooming Support Workers', but several other pieces. A big thank you to franken (Ken), Morpheus1955 (Hugh), PattiW (Patti) and TrevBatWCC (Trevor) Ffor presenting me with their most welcomed User Awards.
I sincerely hope that you all have a cracking day, and an even better weekend.
Highest regards to you all.
Nathan

A lovely panorama view in B&W.
Well done. WesternRed.
Yes those sweeping shadows are special, they cradle the cityscape.

Interestingly, my immediate impression from the thumbnail was of an 18th-century oil painting of a cricket match transposed to an ultra-modern setting and on an infinitely larger scale. I have found an example here but similar paintings are often seen in art galleries.
You are to be heartily congratulated for fooling me so completely!
A superb work, Nathan: clear, all-encompassing, excellent b&w, a tremendous panorama.
Regards
Bill
Superb B&W landscape, excellent composition and I love those clouds ![]()

I too go along with Bill's comments, Nathan: a wonderful panorama over London, so much to see and pick out and enjoy. Although I have never been there I instantly recognised the buildings here as a backdrop to the equestrian event at the Olympics.
Ronnie.
Nathan you have excelled yourself, this is top draw work, I could go on and on but wont I will say this Stupendous work.
John
Excellent bit of merging, Nathan. The side light gives some lovely shadows and the wide angle gives a geat depth to the image. The clouds are excellent as well. Taken before the Olympics erected their arena and messed up the scene.
Dave
(PS.... you didn't tag it 'Saturday Shadows')
V2 works better in my opinion too - much stronger contrast and focus on the buildings ![]()
Do add the tag and then it will appear in the group of Saturday shadow pictures
Helen
Well done Nathan. This is a superb mono panorama, a great cityscape with the added benefit of such an interesting foreground. V2 is the ace with that nice extra bit of contrast.![]()

Good day Nathan for my tired old eyes v2 with the slighlty more contrast wins for me, the Greenwich Naval College is a fine focal point for the capture in stark contrast to the modern build of today what was it PC called them carbuncles hmm maybe he got something right!!!!

Bright blue skies here in Glasgow this morning a fine autumnal day hope yours is as well
This brings back many happy memories Nathan! When I left the Army we lived in Woolwich for several years which is a few miles away, and used to go with my Wife and Son who was two at the time, he is now 46, to this park on a Sunday weather permitting, the panorama has been stitched expertly and exposure is spot on, the sky lends itself to black and white, very professional photography of the highest order.
To any one who has not been here! There is a lot of Lord Nelsons possessions here including the uniform with bullet hole that killed him.
Regards
Trev.

i totally agree superb work of the highest quality
V2 for me Nathan, the extra contrast just adds more.
My old Dad would have loved this image. He went to Greenwich school as a boy at the age of 10 in 1917, the 3rd or 4th generation to do so, (family tradition for the first born son to join the Marines) and ended up being de-mobbed after WW2.

A very fine mono panorama, Nathan, like the sweeping shadows coming in from the left
Think V2 for me, for the extra contrast ![]()

I live in IST zone, AKA Indian stretchable time,as often people do not remain punctual. Thanks for sharing .
Have to agree with Woolybill on this Nathan. Certainly gives the impression of an old master, surmounted by modern buildings. Would also like to see this in Sepia tones which would add to the effect. Great photo.
Here I am at the bottom again. Phew!
A contemporary merge of excellence, Nathan.
Looks rather like an old engraving to me
.
Great work Nathan, it's all been said, I've been out all day.
Dougie
I like what you have done with V3 a great composition and beautiful scene
A wonderful panoramic view of London, excellent composition, cloud formations and shadows. I think v2 steals the show
I think I like v2 the best. Although they are all excellent anyway.
Regards
Mary
