One of the products of a wonderful if very long day at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. A brilliantly organised and executed festival of sport, everyone should be thoroughly proud of themselves. Visitors was supporting their own team but everyone else as well, especially those who came last! We got lots of practice in that because apart from supporting Scotland and the home nations we also supported Papua New Guinea as we have lived there, and apart from one race where a woman just pipped a Jamaican to come second from last - they were all last!

This is Edith Ogoke a Middleweight woman boxer from Nigeria winning her quarterfinal match. Whether you agree with women's boxing or not, ( I do ) what you can't argue with is the sheer joy of every woman boxer on just being there even the losers looked pleased to have been there. Edith is particularly happy because winning in the quarterfinals in boxing guarantees you at least a Bronze medal. The Nigerian element of athletes who were supporting her went crazy with delight for her. She looks a bit pleased too!

Boring technical bit - shooting, no flash at 6 frames a second on the XT 1 - at very high ISOs - stunned with the colours sharpness and noise ( lack of)

Totally agree about the Games. I made the opening ceremony and the Sevens finals. Both were excellent tho I had to leave the Sevens venue at the final whistle and I believe it took a long time to get the podium set up. My daughter has been volunteering at the pool and I helped out at a ceilidh on Glasgow Green. Everyone has hugely enjoyed things.

Well captured moment by the way. I must post some of my Sevens photos.

Superb timing. I envy you this opportunity! I've only photographed boxers training, but I know how fast things happen.

That is a fantastic shot. It should be published in the press.
