My favourite fungi shot to date. I have always tried to get as much light on the subject and have the background clear for that typical clean looking shot. But I tried a different approach today.
Here the specimen was on the forest floor surrounded by clutter with a cluttered background. So I got down to the ground - no tripod I just rested the camera on the floor with the ePHOTOzine camera strap as padding under the lens - and aimed for a more realistic scene.
The lens was a Canon 50mm FD mounted on the Olympus OM-D with a micro 4/3 to FD adaptor. I shot wide open to get the minimal depth of field and cool bokeh background from light cutting through the leaves of the trees.
The sun was just above to the left side of the frame. The splash of light on the shroom on the right was from a Manfrotto Maxima LED light panel, and a foil reflecter was placed to the left to push some subtle light back in to the cap.
