Shot a few years ago in the Everglades, in South Florida. We were advised not to get too close, but this guy was clearly well fed, lots of wildlife down there, really did not seem to care.

I was using a telephoto, kept to at least 6-8' from the gator. And, he was quite somnolent. Basking in the sun, well fed. There were many on the grass merge along the paved path (with water to the side of the grass). People were walking right past them.
