Here you can see the male and female flowers of the Silver Birch. The larger male flower is still closed for most of it's length, the tiny flowers are quite delicate and send out a fabulous yellow pollen which dusted my camera thoroughly!! The smaller female flower turns into the fruiting catkin which can be seen later in the year - I'm hoping to add these to the collection when they are full to bursting with new seed later in the season.
