Sir John Betjeman, as sculpted by Martin Jennings, gazes at the roof of his beloved St Pancras - fighting to save the station and to hang on to his hat. I spent a while observing the delight and affection of travellers discovering him there. Everyone seemed so genuinely happy to see him.
Three different compositions - using square, vertical and landscape formats. Which works best?
If you have time, please view Large.
Thanks for looking,
Moira

It's between #1 and #3 for me Moira... I think I have to go for the close up - I love the expression (but the context from the others helps a lot too!)
Mike
No2 for impact No1 for composition just love the way the eye scans across the image to the four eurostar's waiting for the off
Version 2 is the one for me Moira.
This is a wonderful tribute to him, showing him hanging on to his battered old trilby.
The look on the ladies faces are a wonder to behold as they just gaze at him.

Thanks everyone. I've added a sideways view for Barbara.
Aha! I was wondering when we'd get some shots of this. A good angle, Moira, nicely composed; the sequence tells a delightful tale of which I'm sure JB would have approved. ![]()
I took shots of 'him' recently too. I think the sculptures and the revamp here are great.

Had to come back to visit the old man once again, to find that you have uploaded another version of him...Fantastic
Hilary
Lovely collection of images Moira. Interesting to see them move from looking at him, to looking with him at the roof

2 and 4 for me.. however what a great set of images..
1& 4 for me Moira but it's all down the personal preference in the end, they are all of course good, a very nice set, on a great man of the day. Wonderful work my friend.
All the very best

Miss J Hunter Dunn...
Now those were the days when Poet laureates were real poets... None of this modern motion twaddle!
I love the way (a)one of the ladies mimics his holding on to his hat (with her wig?) and (b) the olde dearies leave in the final picture.
I spotted another statue in #3 - I shall be disappointed if we don't see more of it!

Sadly, I didn't get to take any pictures of The Lovers, Lucy. We arrived at King's Cross and begged a few minutes to walk across to St P to inspect the renovation - but our daughter was starting to mutter on 'What have I let myself in for...' lines, so I put the camera away and we went homewards.
Moira
I really like the last one of the two old Ladies walking away. Good little set this.

That's The Lovers, Ty - the one that I didn't photograph...
I shall go back again...
These are great Moira. I have to say though, I find #3 wonderful.
Andy
superb Moira, really have missed your work and your write ups

I like them all, Moira, but V3 is the one I keep coming back to.
So glad to hear you plan to go back for the Lovers.
Aren't kids ungrateful? You make all that effort to visit a polluted place where the price of cosmopolitan life is grey snot, and they won't even let you play tourist for a while!
I would make it a proviso of any future visit
.
