Janet's birds...
LOL - taken the other day during a brilliant few hours out spent at a fellow epzers...
Mode - aperture priority.
Aperture - F5.6.
Shutter speed - 1/80 of a second.
Exposure compensation - (-0.3)
The camera was fixed upon a tripod.
Photographing these stunning animals can be quite tricky and I now fully appreciate the skill and commitment involved. The light was fading here hence the higher ISO setting.
This is my first serious go at bird photography and would welcome some feedback here...
Dedicated to Jan.
Better viewed large - thanks for looking.

I like this a lot Caleb.
You have not tried to fill the frame so the bird has some kind of context and space to look into.I like the way you have controlled the DOF to exclude any distractions in the background. Considering the slow shutter speed it looks sharp where it matters. Possibly a slight tweak on curves to boost contrast would help,

You did well here Caleb & caught him in a really good pose, great expression.Nice detail on the feathers.Nice dof.
The colours possibly look a touch flat..mind you, some light would have been a bonus..lol..I did a quick mod to see if I could lift them a little.
Well done you!
Janet
Great capture, excellent detail, colours, clarity and pose
Its a good shot, I like it. Comments, I might have tried in this case setting the Aperture to F7 and dropping the Shutter to 1/40. This would have given you some more depth and help bring in more detail on the underside. Hope that helps, Spot on! Click!!!
