...another storm was blowing in from the west across the Kyle of Tongue and Ben Loyal was vanishing beneath the clouds.

A second image with more dramatic sky work. I let you see what I did here.

***Mouse over the versions to see the difference, it's fun if nothing else.

Two variants each very worthy of their own unique upload. In all honesty my friend I find both as equally appealing. Two images which instantly provide one with a true, gritty feeling for this magnificent and awe inspiring part of your great country that is Scotland.

A big open space and even bigger sky, Dougie: I too like both versions, V 2 possibly adding a wee bit more drama by adding a bit more colour and enhancing the contrast.

I do like V2 Dougie not only for the treatment to the sky but how you have brought life into that water. Magical.

I'm sure, if you were sticking out your tongue - you could feel the drizzling sky over your tongue. So this title has a double meaning. but well behaved as you are, you didn't stick out your tongue, did you? Smile Beautiful, dark and brooding mood all over this landscape.

V2 for the warmth in the land/sand and those well captured ripples underneath that stormy sky

Deciding on a preferred version must rely on mood, I think.
While I can't disagree with a single word above - and I feel a slight increase in my pulse-rate when viewing V2 - V1 is more soothing.
The scene is magical.

V2 works better for me, particularly as the increased weight in the sky is balanced by stronger detail in water and land. And I think the light on the water and the sand banks comes across better.

I think I have to agree with Bill on mood, but I think I'll go with the more subtle v1; it's somehow more realistic. But, had I not had the two to compare, I'd have loved v2!! I love the grey tones and that small sandbank on the left - magic! Smile

That's an image with big presence, Dougie. Fabulous sky and a scene I could look at for a long while.
