This is another shot that I took during our recent holiday on Skye. Taken from the beach, looking towards the Cuillan Hills. This evening we had some small clouds that coloured the sky when the sun was setting.

I am very new to landscape photography. It was the first time that I hassled with a tripod (mine was too wobbly, still some frames were moved), tried out grad filters (can't see enough them to focus well...), and polarising filters (do you also have to rotate when you go from landscape orientation to portait) and a wide angle lens (what a lot of scenery do you get with that lens).

Quite an adventure for me. Please tell me what you think of these efforts!
Jacqueline

Great capture with a soft light. The subtle details and colours of the green stone in the foreground is what makes it for me in this shot.

I think this one is fantastic! The color and wide angle really are great. Even the green on the near rock is clear.

This is a well composed shot and it looks good to me, worth the effort with the tripod and filters.

Love this, superb composition, lovely tones!

Loved your narrative - for someone who comes across as not knowing what they are doing you seem to be faking it well! Smile

I would be very happy if this were my shot. The touch of green in fg and the deep colours in the sky make this really stand out

I agree that the green is the cherry on the top.
I am trying to get my act together and buy some ND grads, but in the meantime I use Auto-bracketing and HDR. This type of shot could be a good source for HDR.
