So, a break from the seaside, but not from castles, I'm afraid.
Paul, Beth & I spent an enjoyable few hours at Chillingham Castle, on the recommendation of Tony & Glynnis Frith (thanks folks).
The castle has been around for a good few years (since the 13th Century!) and is currently being renovated by Sir Humprey Wakefield.
A fascinating place, full of bits and bobs, alongside all the grandeur you would expect, there were surprises round every corner. All available for having cameras pointed at them, too ![]()
This little scenario was set up on the stairs leading to the "Edward I" room, which is where he stayed when he was fighting Mel Gibson (OOPS - - I mean William Wallace!)
Massive learning curve (almost a vertical scramble) for me here, I wanted to get the feel of the place across, with the texture of walls and stone steps that had seen hundreds of years of use, plus the detail in the idividual items. AND, it was really bright outside, so I know about the highlights on the drainpipe.
Anyway, it's an hdr of 3 images, tweaked and converted in CS3.
Thanks for looking and I'm sure you'll let me know what you think, have a gr8 Thursday. Off to tidy up the garden between showers today, and shift all the accumulated rubbish to the tip!
Cheers All!

Tom.
Wonderful work. One of my friends got married at Chillingham Castle, in fact there is a pic of him and his son on here somewhere.
It's a lovely composition with great detail, Fran, but I feel as though it doesn't quite have the depth that a 'straight' shot would have. Maybe the strong hdr whilst bringing out bags of detail, has slightly flattened the overall image? Or maybe I'm talking rot, and had a glass of wine too many? ![]()

The spiders will be popping out all over the place soon........
