The simplest things make the finest pictures.
I think we all love a verdant green fern - set against the grey b/g it looks superb.

I think you've composed this beautifully, Ronnie. I like the softness of the fern against the hardness of the stone, and the flaking paint on the old pipes.

These fern sprout from the smallest crack in the land, I find it everywhere I go in Scotland, from the wilds to the inner city as here. It hangs on with a determination worthy of an Llympic Athlete.

Such a lot going on in this rather beautifully captured image. A very striking contrast between that battered and weatherbeaten stonework, adorned by these once ever so familiar cast iron drainpipes, and the beautiful fresh, green and lush foliage of the rather steadfast and hardy fern.

That fern looks to be very well established, Ronnie, and therefore bodes the question as to which is the old and which is the new.
An excellent selection box of diverse textures and textures here. Like the offset symmetry.
