Many thanks to everyone who voted and commented on the Damon Blue, and especially to Paintman, TonyDy, BRabbitt. Irishkate, and Tomcat for the UA's, all are very much appreciated.

Here's a female Sooty Copper warming up in my favourite meadow in Miraflores.

Off out in search of roosting Common Blues shortly, catch up later this evening.

Excellent shot of a stunning butterfly Nigel! I've seen Sooty Coppers before but never with tails like that. I've checked the book and online and don't see any others with tails, yet everything else looks good for Sooty Copper and the only copper I see with tails is the Grecian Copper which is nowhere near Spain (and doesn't really look like this anyway). Do they all have tails like this there?

Maybe it's a seperate subspecies?

Awesome open wing shot wither way!

Or Lesser Firey Copper is close in appearance but not in terms of location. Italy is a bit closer than Greece though!

A rather stunning macro photograph Nigel, which captures this rather handsome 'Sooty Copper' so very well, stunning natural colour, gorgeous detail and markings.

Everbody's knowledge of butterflies is wonderful -
and this is a wonderful macro with every detail captured to perfection.
With attention drawn to the tails - this is a beautiful creature.

an excellent shot . We haven't had many butterflies this year, Mainly due to the long periods of bad, wet weather we are getting.
