Speke Hall built in the 1530's is situated on the outskirts of Liverpool. A beautiful building which has changed little over the centuries
Great angle on this architetural gem; love that sky too

every thing works and love the colours too
It's a good view but there are incongruities in the shadow areas - the shadows thrown on the building are less intense than those thrown by the trees, and the near sides of the last two of these are lighter than their shadows. It jars for me.
super capture and i love the colours
Hi Ceri the image is as taken there has been NO manipulation whatsoever
Wonderful colours and a fabulous sky, is this place haunted or have monk hideaways?
Hi Andrew the story is that it is haunted by priests who used to hide there in a secret room during the 16th century
Superb buildings Ray, great composition and a fantastic sky on top of everything.
Thanks Johanna - I hope yopu enjoyed your break

I thought so, pretty sure I was taken there as a kid. I'll have to ask the olds, or maybe they'll confirm it on here.

Quite unusual and dramatic lighting Ray, works a treat tho.
Beautiful, and a wonderful sky to go with it.
Excellent comp and great sky.

I nearly went here yesterday, chose Little Moreton Hall instead, both fantastic buildings. The 16th century architecture is amazing and your image has certainly done it justice Ray.

Lol Ray, don't trust my photos about my age, they all lie!
And this shot is really pleasant to view, warm and lovely.

Real classy architectural shooting - good strong compositional lines, sharp, excellent colour, and oh! that sky. Great stuff.
Thanks Linda, Jude, AC for yoiy comments - the pic was taken when out with my young grand daughter one afternoon tying to teach her how to use the camera I bought for her bithday. I have to confess this was taken hand held whilke showing her how to hold her camera properly. I used apolariser and an Is lens.
This is a good image ray which you've caught at a time when the clouds are at their best - well done.
