I got a few shots of this Sperm Whale yesterday of which this is probably the best one, it was quite a way off but you can clearly see it blowing/venting. Sadly today its reported that the Whale died after beaching itself in shallows in the Cromarty Firth just outside Inverness.

Amazing. I know there was a Humpback reported last year but that was about 30 miles offshore. A sure sign of the North Sea waters increasing in temperature ?

Not a great picture, but it has lots of feeling of wilderness

I'd say you were right Chris.

Peter the shot was taken from a long way off as said, it wasn't posing for its shot to be taken.

Can't help being reminded of Wm. McGonegall's "The Great Tay Whale". Can't help thinking you got the better view!

A sad end, Kin. Terrific timing in capturing the vent.
