Just bought a Sigma 10-20, opens up a new world of photography!

I took several shots of this with varying composition, unfortunately all hand held so I need to go back for printables. I still cant decide which way it works best so I've put it up for mod/critique if you have the time.

Cheers

Gary

When you say which way works best, do you mean shooting top down, or cropping, orientation, or colour/mono?

Its a very competent shot as it is. Might get some suggestions if you lets know what your after.

The landscape version that's on show here Gaz. I suspect you're asking if you shold post it portrait so that the balcony with the yellow light is at the bottom? I don't think that would work as well for the following reason. The stairs that you have on the left anchor the image in my opinion as the brain can then see what you've taken. If you went portrait, then the stairs would be turned and my brain(small I know!!!) may struggle to 'see' the image. I like the image a lot. I'm a sucker for architectural images, particularly ones inside with staircases like this!!!! Hope my 'critique' helps in some small way!!!!

You are welcome. Its an entirely different shot rotated, and echoes many forms found in nature.

Really appreciate the input folks. I should have made myself clearer, I was pondering over the rotation of the image, and I appreciate the input Dave. The square crop works a treat and the BW was a classic interpretation. Unfortunately I couldnt get upstairs on this occasion. I should post for critique more often!
cheers again,
Gary

It really is an interesting staircase and the sort of thing you & morgs will revel in. I like your original crop but can the image is open to variations...need to write and get permission for a shoot you do.

Nice shot Gary,
I think the colour distracts from the abstracted image, nowt wrong with the format. I've had a play thanks.
best
