To be honest, I'm not sure whether it is a sylvestris (european) or linoleus ( essex) skipper. Hanging around on a leaf corner Smile

it has got orange indicators on the antennae.

Many thanks for your comments regarding our sunflower. It is actually turning redder now and the striped one is also looking good. upload to follow. Seeds available, preferably in exchange.

The darkish b/g helps to show up the subject very nicely, Annette: the subtle lighting is so attractive and the detail captured could not be better.

Such gorgeous rich orange colour and lush greens in this exceptionally good macro. I have no idea as to which species of skipper this is, if his/her accent was estuary english and not french it is definitely an essex skipper!Wink

Looking at the scent gland on the wing, it is not parallel to the edge of the wing, thus indicating it is not an Essex - I thinkWink

Ohhh...now this is something. Simply LOVE that light, Annette. Not just how it makes the colour go BOING! but also how it throws the background into perfect shadow like that.

Exquisite shot Smile

I'm becoming very fond of these little skippers. It looks so small and frail against that open space and is set off so well against the rich green and gently mottled background.
