One more in my yellow series - simply a Squash - lovely shaped vegetable
but not great for taste.
Thank you all very much for votes and kind comments for Corn on the Cob
and a special thank you to Williamsloan and Digital _Boi for User Awards.

I like your set up here, Kate, a fine still life: the sun streaming in has enhanced the colours for sure but perhaps at the expense of slight over exposure of the facing surface.
This might work well with softer lighting on a cloudy day and with a white card reflector......would help to even out the lighting although the colours would be more subdued.
I'd like to see the very same image taken that way, if it's not too impertinent a suggestion.
Ronnie.

Nice light with detail in the shadows, background and foreground not intrusive, I like it Kate, Eyes going a bit now just looked at 54 prints and 80 digital images for next club competition I am judging, have it down to six possibles! But going to bed now and will decide tomorrow.
Regards
Trev.
You have a slight burn on of light on right hand side..
This may be dew to light that not defused and a nice shiny squash...
May be just a plain white A4 paper in front of light may have take the harshness out ofthat light...
In my job I have to do things like that to stop metal reflecting light back in to camera..

Simple composition but one with impact. Single item which draws your eye in and complimented by the rich colours.
i agree with you ... great to photograph .. rubbish to eat!
A great still life
could not agree more squash should be squashed and thrown out, ideal for still life light on the right a wee tad harsh a wee a wee Kleenex tissue would have softened it nicely unused of course ![]()

I agree with the slight over-exposure, however it is still a very fine still life and an excellent part of this series!

Can't add to the helpful comments above. A lovely arrangement and colours.
