do you think i need to remove Some of the foreground to improve the image .... ?
Hi David, it seems you already have an idea of how to improve the image. This is a place I would love to photograph and if I was going to create a comp of this lighthouse I would consider a number of things, excuse me if you have already considered these:
1. Is there any foreground interest I could use to give it more depth, rocks, seaweed, rockpools etc?
2. Leading lines, perhaps any fissures or trickles of water leading towards the light house.
3. Stepping back - the sky looks really good here, I would have considered a change of position to to reduce the size of the lighthouse so you could include more sky and maybe any sea, essentially creating more of a panoramic (tide looks out here so may have been difficult).
4. ND Grad - I don't know whether you used one, but this will help bring out more detail in the foreground.

It looks like a decent shot to me.
You havent identified the type of camera in your details, but judging from your focal length I assume its a compact. If thats the case, the camera has done a good job of balancing the extremes of bright sky and dark foreground.
You would not be able to use a grad filter with a compact, so depending on your cameras capabilities and your own PS skill level, you could in fact shoot two exposures, one for the sky and one for the foreground, and combine them in PS.
The composition is good, - youve stuck with thirds, however it appears bottom heavy as there little or no detail in the foreground. Its possible to reveal details there by lifting the shadows or exposure there which makes it a lot more interesting.
Ive tried to get the best of both worlds in the mod, - reducing the exposure of the sky while increasing the exposure of the foreground, - trying to show what a two exposure compilation would look like.

I assume a Panasonic compact with a focal length like 5.5mm. Decent image which does come over as a bit heavy. i wanted to crop the foreground, but when you do the image doesn't look balanced. I think you needed to shoot slightly earlier to get a bit more light - the exposure suggests it had nearly gone.
