A view of the dome of St Peter's, taken from the roof of the basilica after we had been up to the top of the dome.
The views from the top were wonderful and worth every one of the 320 steps we had to climb to get there. V2 is the classic view looking down to St Peter's square and then out to the Tiber - I'm sure you'll all have seen this shot a thousand times, but it just has to be done Wink. V4 shows a rear view of the statues of Jesus Christ and his disciples which border the roof of the basilica in front of the dome.

Thanks for stopping by and for your interest in my last upload, Mother and Son.

What an interesting set Theresa, were your legs tired after all those stairs!? Such a lot of wonderful detail to enjoy in each image.

Thanks everyone for your comments.
Barbara, there were times during that climb that I questioned my sanity, given that I have torn cartilage in both knees and struggle at the best of times. So yes, my legs were tired, but it was so worth it. Smile.

V1 is especially well composed; it would make a great b&w I think.

A fine set of images from this super location, Theresa. Went on holiday to Rome in spring 2008, and you've just got to go to the top of the dome, haven't you? It seems never ending when going up, but it's worth it for the magnificent view. Thanks for bringing back memories Smile.
