Hi Richard,
Not a bad shot and I can see why you took it.
I've added a mod. in which I've cropped the bottom to remove some of the foreground, which whilst necessary, isn't particularly intrersting and the RHS for the same reason.
A check in levels confirms that it's slightly underexposed, so I've adjusted that and added a slight "S" curve to incerease the contrast a bit.
Finally, I sharpened it.
Hope this helps.

Bren.

Edit; I've sharpened it a bit too much but you'll get the idea!

A great subject, Richard, but you needed to get closer and show some of the fascinating detail in the dead tree, and concentrate on the area where the light is. Also, try to offset your subject instead of having it central in the frame.
Pamela.

Bren has covered it. The dead tree is your subject and it needs to be more demanding, placed on a third and larger.

Paul
