This time of year see's another spectacle of nature. The Rut is almost over, next up are the huge flocks of Starlings. They call these gatherings murmurations, this was just part of a huge gathering numbering 2 million ! in Somerset. A changs from Bears.

A fantastic sight. I saw a murmuration last year at Brighton over the pier but no where near as many as this

The spectacular flights of starlings Ron, we used to have great flocks of them in Glasgow, it was a conference stopper atthe Record as they flew outside our windows.

These make amazing patterns, how they don't bump into each other when in such huge numbers I don't know! Never seen these myself, hope to one day Ron. An incredible natural behaviour sight captured here.

One of those rare occasions when the thumbnail looks better than the full or enlarged pic. No put down a fact because it is the pattern that makes the picture, viewed at a distance is much more effective.

A wonderful phenomenon well caught. I've yet to see this for myself - it must be amazing to watch.
