Steel Wheelers

The Amish and Mennonite farmers who live in my neighborhood are forbidden the comfort of rubber tires for their vehicles.

This tractor was parked in our driveway over night. Wilmer and Esther Mae had not finished splitting our firewood due to a serious thunder storm.

Don't the tires look lethal.

The tractor and wood splitter were so long I had to use my fisheye lens so v2 is distorted but you can see what a grand tractor it is. The wood splitter (Yellow) is a mean machine as well.

Yesterday's image showed the back tires-- Kudos to Ade for the best answer !

Love the detail in these Jenn, super images,
Fred.

Aww Lord,
What's wrong with pressured air?

Great pictures of a great alternative to rubber, Steel.
I am not suggesting anything, o.k.?

Hard to imagine why rubber tires are not allowed when the rest of the tractor is modern. It may even have an air-suspension seat. When I drive a tractor my back needs all the comfort I can get, so I am glad I don't have to drive something like this. Thanks for sharing these fascinating insights into another way of life.

Amazing! Had no idea they had to resort to such tyres! At least they must save a fortune on punctures but doubt I'd want a ride in anything with tyres which can't remove at least some of the humps and bumps of country roads!! Must show the hubbie these images once we reach a rather more civilized hour of the day! Tongue

Most intriguing Jenn, and a nice guessing game to play.
I would never have thought they were wheels and certainly so sturdy.
Thanks for the great clear pictures and an insight into another culture
of life……

Not something I would have guessed at Jenn, a brilliant effect with that fisheye in V2. I'm assuming that as I haven't heard from you the package I sent hasn't turned up. I have a second book which I'll post today but I don't have a second pin badge I'm afraid.

A very interesting thought, however I would much prefer to be run over by a pneumatic tyre than one of those beasts.

Regards and Version number 1 for me today. Love the shape and form.

Wheels make good semi-abstracts, I've just uploaded one that looks only marginally more comfortable to ride on.

What I was thinking.

Some of them are so strict I'm a bit surprised at the red paint - shouldn't this be black? Provided two very interesting images Jenn.

Wouldnt be allowed on the roads over here ,have to get permission for metal tracked vehicles and not keen on giving it unless in emergency situations ,fascinating info ,silly situation ,masochistic in my opinion, like the hydraulic splitter though, that makes life a bit easier.
