A photo with a bit of light humour to it... This is a heavy crop (apologies for the low detail)... I shot this picture from too far but managed to get the bird exactly as it was walking from the lit area into the shaded area. It was kind of metaphoric to me, and I presented it in this manner to highlight the contrast between the light and shadow-areas, and the movement being done by the bird from one side to another. Kind of like stepping into the dark side of life, ey?

Great spot, great image Alistair. I particular admired the metaphoric link, which in many ways shadows or duplicates my feelings somewhat.

Never Sure Which Side You Are

Light and dark...each having failed us at a time of need...only one is true
reaching toward the sky...begging for answers...only to be denied
it is your quest...you must succeed to know the truth...to know yourself
child of the dark...child of the light...never sure which you are

being of both...searching for self in both worlds...finding no answers
knowing one is the salvation...the other a lie... but which one do you trust
playing games instead of paying attention...time is now lost...searching on
child of the dark...child of the light...never sure which you are

the answer lies beyond your reach...yet...it is there...seeking you as you go
answers are found only by you...this is your quest...no others may search
reaching for the skies seeking...yet for more assistance...again denied
child of the dark...child of the light...never sure which you are

there are no shortcuts to this quest...who you are is what youve always been
always there...all the time...waiting for you to find...looking in the wrong places
looking up again...the answer opens up...you have found...your search is done
child of the dark...child of the light...never sure which you are

Edith Piaf's sobriquet meant the little sparrow. I tried something similar to this in Paris once, the result wasn't half as good...
I love the way you have cropped to square for the diagonal, that's class.

Glad you like this Nathan, and in pleased that it was thought provoking to you.

Moira, glad you appreciate the decisions I took when composing this in post processing work
I specifically wanted that diagonal. Smile
