A single gravestone. Square crop or original portrait, which works better? Oh and yes, Iíve seen the face...
Thanks for looking,
beautiful light and composition. a shot with huge dignity. Great work Katie
Think the crop of V1 for me, it concentrates your eye on the texture more and that lovely mossy "hair".
lovely light and shadows Moira, I like both versions,
lovely, #2 for me
a lovely composition here - love the pink flowers in the background - very tasteful
Very good shots. Difficult to make a choice. So, both.
have you seen the fac.....oh I see you have ....lol...beautifully lit, v2 for me
Lovely detail. I prefer the crop to V1 as it brings in the oof pink flowers more. Super light.
Good DOF on this Moira with a subtley of colour...Jools
A lovely shot Moira, I think that V1 works best
x Carol x
Going with version one this morning Moria - good use of DOF.
Some nice light and shapes too.
Compositionally No. 2 works best for me, the dead leaves just adds that little bit extra.
Two very nice images I like them both - Elizabeth
Good light and good crop Moira.
Definitely has to be the V1 crop for me, wonderful light and tones, great dof and I to see the face . Superb shot.
Works a dream
The face made me smile
Both beautifully done Moira, I have a slight preference to V1 for the closer crop - excellent work!
Thanks to everyone who has called in here this morning, I'm delighted with the reception this one has received as it's one of my favourites.
We're off to Newcastle to put the world to rights over a few coffees, will catch up here later...
Original for me Moira..you knew I would say that didn't you ? I love this..a really attractive composition full of warm tones.
Like them both, Moira, can't really pick a fave. Enjoy your coffee! Carol
Think V1 for me, Moira, but both lovely captures of the detail and textures.
Two great images. super light and great detail.
I prefer the square
I like the inference of death being like the headsone, decaying in time Moira.
As an old square myself,I will go for the square crop.
And I see your upside down face, with stubble on his chin.
(well,it could still be a her,I suppose !!)
Nice shot Moira.
v1 is a work of art, both in light and line....one of your best of the cemetery images. I think the leaves on the bottom distract from that pure form in v2.
For some reason v2 appealed most-- a version of the helicoid? ( both) wonderful colors
tones, texture and killer dof, it has it all Moira!
Featured E2 Photo
lovely detailed shot.
At first I thought, lob some off the left and top, but then, no, as it is, it's an excellent bit of abstraction.
Such great detail and textures Moira, so well done.
Featured photo at 15.11 - superb! Love the light and the flowers in the background. Great image!!!
Fabulous textures in these moira ,great light and crop too well captured regards
I think #1 is much the stronger crop — it concentrates on the important parts of the shot: the detail of the gravestone and the moss and things on it, and the out-of-focus areas behind it.
Lovely image - V1 for me, love the close-up detail.
fine images and great PF
V1 works best for me, less complicated, better format.
V1 for me, but had to think about this for some time. Like the texture of moss and stone plus the hint of flowers. Nice composition.
Thanks again everyone - Mick(S), I thought about cropping a bit at the top, to remove the pink just inside the frame, but I wanted to keep a perfect square and I didn't want to include more of the shadow bottom left. Could have cloned it out, I suppose... Didn't think of cropping on the left, and I do think it needs that band of darkness. I might have another play with this. When I've cleaned the house. And done the laundry...
To end with only. Some loved one resting in peace.
Nice light and feel to this Moira , well done
Good use of DF
V1 for me. I like the clever use of DOF to keep enough detail in the flowers.
v1 for me and thanks for the comment on my photo much appreciated
Both very well positioned Moira, beautifully captured, Adrian
V1 - really nice composition - wonderful colouring and textures
Both lovely comp's Moira, but V1 does it for me this time.
Version one for me here, it may also work well in mono.
Excellent use of light
Thanks again, and Matt I've been looking at this today and thinking mono...
V1 for me too. Definately a mono candidate. Super use of 'depth of field'.
Love the crop Moira and LARGE for V1 is a must!!! So much texture.
V1 for the close crop.
V1 for me too. Lovely shot Moira
I prefer no,2 with the tighter crop,beautiful detail,great textures.
Featured early on today,,
a bold and lovely image, taken with much respect! Yes, I too would have got rid of the dark column to the left, sacrificing a tad off the bottom to keep the square. Regardless, It's still a beautiful image very well captured and composed,,,
Beautifully composed shot, fantastic focus and dof
History written all over it
Beautiful shot Moira; great detail in the foreground with that lovely light and excellent use of the DOF and composition showing the hint of the flowers in the distance to mirror the stalks on the near gravestone
V1 all the way
No 1 for me, love the colours and the detail, fine shot
Well spotted Moira. It realy works. Dave.
nice light and dof. v1 for me.lesley
Superb. The square crop for me.
Superb light and detail on the stone Moira, your images from Pere LaChaise Cemetry have been excellent and most interesting and this one is no exception
I prefer the tighter crop in V1 myself.
Super colours and DOF here Moria
both versions are super...great comp and light
A wonderful image you've produced, Moira.....
The lights and shadows and textures and colours all make for great visual display...Very appealing.
Cheers and have a great week,
the face drew me in.....
this is beautiful...
square, of course
