This female with a foot missing was at Pinewalla Elephant Sanctuary, Sri Lanka. It is thought that she stood on a land mine during the war with the Tamil Tigers.
She still manages to get around well on her three good legs.

A beautiful image with a sad story behind it. Such a shame she bore the brunt of human desire for violence and power. That aside, I like this a lot. Thanks for posting it!
