There are some Vietnam veterans who seem to have avoided all the mental damage from the war. This veteran spent his tour incountry fixing massive trucks with his rifle and helmet always within reach. He got to use them often. He went home got discharged and got a job fixing the same kind of massive trucks that he fixed in Vietnam. Everything went fime for thirty years until one night there was a gang war in South Central. The sound of automatic wepons fire was clearly heard, a large number of police helicopters flew over head, the same kind of helicopters that flew in Vietnam. It was a hot night, it was the war zone all over again. He set down his tools, went home, and has never gone back.

I have seen thsi picture again.... possibly because I had seen your pf.
Violence leaves scars, visible or invisible.
It has taken me 20 years to wear something green.
A powerful portrait and such a tragic story.
