More experimenting in my makeshift studio, this time with a few textured layers added in PS. Comments and criticisms are very welcome - and thank you for your comments, mods and advice on Lime Green, with special thanks to Malc for the GEA and Steve (stevesloan) for his UA. It was a special way to end the year. Smile
Thank you also to the ePZ team for the birthday gift of one week's membership of e2 - a lovely surprise when I found the email this morning! Smile

Happy birthday Ann! And the colour suits the oil painting filter, it has an Old Master (Mistress??) feel. But I'm not so sure that the effect suits a reflection, it somehow loses the luminous look.

Yes, I wondered about that - probably right Moira.

You're right Carol, it is past its best, but I quite liked that with the texturing. Maybe it's not quite right...

Happy Birthday, Ann!
The French for 'still life' is 'nature morte' ('dead nature'), reason enough to justify the state of the pomegranate even though it is strictly dying rather than actually dead. Smile
The reflection creates a virtual half-pomegranate, a complete shape rather than a broken one, making it harmonise with the unbroken shapes of the pumpkins.
Just a couple of thoughts!
Regards
Bill

Great composition which is what I first notice in a still life.
As woolybill1 says the two halves make a whole which makes the object number five - perfect.
the texture is great.
Also interesting to learn the (The French for 'still life' is 'nature morte' ('dead nature').
I didn't know that.
Big congratulations on your GEA for the Lime image!!!!!!

I don't want to rain on your parade Ann.
But - I still think you need to make your subjects grounded - looks kind of like an aerial view onto a texture.
I think you need to have a separation point somewhere across this type of image to define the bg and a base for reflections and shadows.
Most of the light appears to be coming from the left ( as viewed ) so you would get some shadows on the RH side of image.
I don't think the overall texture helps either as it seems to take the shape out of the pumpkins.
Just a few hopefully helpful observations.
PS. I think you will find as an e2 member you have a 1 month membership ext.Smile

Cracking shot !!!....great subject, with a nice arrangement, & the textures have added to the character & feel of
the whole image........lovely piece of work, with a lovely painterly quality !!!!.Smile

When you add a textured layer it sometimes 'flattens' the tones a little, depending on the blending-mode....so I've
done a mod. to bring back some of the contrast & 'roundness' to the fruit.....plus a bit more colour in the seeds, &
finished with a vignette.........not a criticism, just adding a final 'flourish' to a great shot !!

....& Happy Birthday Ann.........

Niknuts mod is an improvement Ann. It provides the depth and 3 dimensional look thats missing. I would suggest that with a texture layer like this, that looks like a canvas, you dont apply it to the subjects, but to the background only.

Not your best work, BUT Happy Birthday!
