I like the mono. I also like the bokeh discs, but some viewers will look at them as distractions rather than enhancements. I would like to see his fave slightly brighter, and sharpener, and it can benefit with a little space cropped from the top, as in the mod. I tilted the mod a little more too, - the tilt is something I like, - gives the shot a more dynamic feel than a straight shot.

I like the color because of the shade of orange color on the face which adds to the happy mood. Deep
Nice composition and lines play, vertical, horizontal, diagonal, a play of light and shadow. Monochrome for me brings in this occasion the best out of it.
