My final attempt to wring something out of the hayfield - with a little boost from Topaz - hope I haven't overcooked it (please let me know if I have)! Thanks for looking - and for any comments and/or criticisms.
A big big thank you to Chris (SlowSong), Brian (Bricurtis), Jenn (taggart) and John (alsoppdigitalart) for their UA's for Passing the time of day! I was so pleased to get four awards and all your votes on something I had overlooked!! Thanks very much again!

Looks pretty much perfect to me! Great pov and textures. Sadly, looks all too much like summer 2012 harvest time around here with that sky!!

Brilliant colour but I hope you dont mind me say that I am sure that it's a straw bales not hay.
They say -Hay's to make the cow s--t
Straw's for bedding.
What ever it is it's a great one anyway, and I am only saying it for bit of fun,not nastyness.

The separation between the bales of straw (I did originally say Hay but just read netta's post above Grin), and the sky is gorgeous. Love the moody sky.

A rather stunningly composed image depicting this wonderful post-harvest scene. A great point of view in which you have allowed your EF-S10-22mm to come into its own, and really grab hold of as much of this beautiful scene as possible.

A fine composition that makes good use of the wide format, with the contrasty light to add drama. Not overdone, I think.
Most of the straw fields that I have seen recently have only had the benefit of grim, pale grey light . . . Sad

I thought the asying was all about making hay while the sun shines, Ann. Here you have proved that it is possible with the overbearing threat of a storm approaching. Wouldn't be the same without that heavy, threatening sky which adds the atmosphere needed to give this some oomph..

You actually learned two things from one comment Ann Wink

I don't think it's overcooked, they're never the easiest things to compose and too heavy to move.

It is an excellent image . Love the foreground and composition. The sky is truly striking too but looks a tad muted as though the mid-tones have been compressed. Possibly room to boost the highlights in the sky a bit more without blowing them. I only say this because the blue areas and all that white , fluffy cloud suggest it was a fine day.Hope you don't mind - a minority view and very subjective.

Ohhh...no no...I don't think it's been overcooked, Ann. Your image looks most deliciously sauteed Smile

Although I might have to pick bits of straw out of my teeth Grin

Seriously, though, I see lovely colour, detail and exposure on my monitor. Love the sky, OBviously.

AND I've learnt something new! About hay vs straw. I always thought these were hay bales and I never did think that straw and hay were differen things.

But hay, I'm from Singapore...what do I know about bales Wink

Looks good to me, a number of other people think so too judging by the number of votes you've harvested for this one. Andrew being a country bumpkin from the west country i can provide the answer to your question. Straw is used for animals bedding and hay is for them to eatSmile
