Dramatic sky, I like that. What were the chances of using a slightly slower shutter speed to smoothen the sea and make the waves less of a distraction? I think this would have looked even better with a smooth sea contrasting against the dramatic sky up top.
Regardless, the rain falling in the lower-RHS third accentuates what I think is an excellent composition. Well done.
I like the 'recognisable' look of the waves, this captures the weight of water. But I do find the difference in tone between sea and sky a bit distracting.

Very dramatic sky, Dougie. I'm surprised the water wasn't even more disturbed!

The storms were very localised and moved in quite quickly, the sun was shining on the fg while the dark thunder clouds scudded in off the ocean. The sand here is quite white and made of of sea shells pulverised by the pounding of waves over many centuries, the sea seems very green here in the shallow water. The water wasn't being disturbed by the wind still out across the sound. That's my recollection from May of last year.
I never considered a long exposure, as simple as that.
Just look at this sky! It is almost like cottonwool, and such a great contrast to the green water. Blissful image.

An absolutely stunning land/skyscape Dougie. The cloudburst is the icing on the cake.
