Hard to be constructive about this one - there is little or no room for improvement. The colour combination is good, the composition excellent, leading the eye nicely up to the house at top right. Possibly there is a little bit of highlight loss in the latter feature, which could have been avoided with half a stop or so of exposure compensation, but I would have to see the histogram to be certain about that. No doubt the Photoshop experts will be able to help you more there.

I really like this image.

[quote]All you would need then would be a cat or a dog to the left of the steps/quote]

I thought of that, too, but when visiting another city one doesn't always have a cat or dog handy. Smile

I am not sure I mind the burnt out detail. Croppoing out the distant house would harm the composition.

All is not quite lost!

I've uploaded a mod. in which I've lassoed the bits at the top which looked a bit burnt out and decreased the exposure slghtly, increased the mid tone contrast, reduced the output levels (whites) a touch. A few tweaks in curves and I think at least some detail's been rescued.
I could probably have sharpened it slightly too.
It's a bit of a shame I couldn't upload the mod. at the original size as it looks better large.

Hope it's OK.

Bren.

Edit; I was seriously tempted to place my dog outside one of those doorways!
