Came across this at the top of a hill above Lake Windermere.
It was quite large ... but tend to think it was a sheep.
But after my wrong bird identification yesterday not putting any money on that.
What amazed me was there was no mess around at all.
But then I am a town lass not so sure about the country life.

Excellent photograph bearing testimony that nature's clean-up brigade has worked it's magic.
Really not sure what it is, Barbs, but most likely a sheep, though it does look uncommonly like a human
. The vultures have been busy cleaning the area, they leave nothing but bones. What did you have for dinner that night, spare ribs ![]()
Well captured, though rather gruesome
Carol
Cracking shot, excellent detail, well spotted and captured.

I'm impressed, Barbara, didn't realise your camera had x-ray potential.

So glad you made is safely back down again. One can never know, given what happened to the previous visitor to those heights! Crows, Ravens, Foxes and Badgers are always on the lookout for something to devour. Badgers could do this to any sheep within a day!
Ann
Fascinating the way the top of the spine is rearing up at us ...
Moira
Picked clean by the birds and insects, the way of all flesh whether in town or country.
Dougie
macabre laughter off camera.
Natures undertakers are always at work! Barbara they never ceese! and there are plenty of them! makes a rather abstract shot to my way of thinking lol.; nicely polished and mounted the bones would look good too, like it nice one regards Leon,![]()

Looks almost humanoid - quite unsettling, but a good image nonetheless.
A bit scary! I'd be imagining that I would finish up like this if I'd got lost!
Well captured though, Barbs, and think it works well in mono ![]()

It's not Halloween yet is it.Proberbly the FOX or ONE OF HIS CRUEL friend is responsible for this, and this is why I say I dont like the Fox.
This is not something you would like to see happening all the time especially in spring when it's lambing time.
Netta
Nature, unlike we humans, does not waste resources, especially food, Barbara. There would have been hundreds of small critters and insects feasting on a mela like that.
You could have taken the bones home with you and made some broth with them.![]()
Malc
