Came across this at the top of a hill above Lake Windermere.
It was quite large ... but tend to think it was a sheep.
But after my wrong bird identification yesterday not putting any money on that.
What amazed me was there was no mess around at all.
But then I am a town lass not so sure about the country life.

Really not sure what it is, Barbs, but most likely a sheep, though it does look uncommonly like a human Sad. The vultures have been busy cleaning the area, they leave nothing but bones. What did you have for dinner that night, spare ribs WinkWink Well captured, though rather gruesome Sad Carol

So glad you made is safely back down again. One can never know, given what happened to the previous visitor to those heights! Crows, Ravens, Foxes and Badgers are always on the lookout for something to devour. Badgers could do this to any sheep within a day!

Nature, unlike we humans, does not waste resources, especially food, Barbara. There would have been hundreds of small critters and insects feasting on a mela like that.
