An extremely good pair of photographs, full of natural colour, detail, and light. Version 2 gets my vote for today, a really beautiful image.

While I really like both, V2 makes rather more of the lines both in the field and the sky that channel the gaze towards the bare tree; the raised flower heads on either side assist in the process. Love the colour - wish it was here!

v1 Darryl. The composition is a lot more balanced, classic thirds arrangement, the field has a more pronounced diagonal slope, and the tree is more prominant and extends further into the sky area linking the image vertically. v2 has some good lines but the flowers and tree are at the same height which seems to split the image into two parts of the oil seed rape (and tree) and the sky. v2 I think might look very good with a letter box crop, losing most of the sky and putting the horizon on the top third.
