These two are especially for beverleycostello, who wondered if I took any shots of the Sunderland Airshow today. Unfortunately we never actually made it to the Airshow itself but parked a little way along the coast. I managed to get a few shots and these are two that were not too bad. I am way out of my comfort zone with aircraft shots, and I have absolutely no idea of what this aircraft is! I think it is a bomber of some kind, but perhaps one of you kind people will enlighten me!! I know that these are quite "noisy", as was the aircraft itself, but I did take it hand-held on full 20x zoom!

Thanks for your C&Cs on Portree Harbour!

Carol

Like both but it has to be V2 with that great exhaust line which gets my vote. What a gloriously blue sky too!!

Its a Vulcan bomber and may be the only one that is flying these days, you have captured it superbly.

Not the easiest subjects to shoot - especially at the speed they fly at. Whilst I was in Staithes, one of these (or something similar) flew overhead, and it appeared and disappeared in about 3 seconds! So, very well done here, Carol Smile

thank you very much carol...........this is a supureb shot indeed ...and hand held too ...am impressed carol...i personally prefer v1 ...i like the closeness of it as appose to v2..which i agree has the feature of the exhaust in it ..both good shots indeed , also the bonus of the day was for the nice clear blue sky for your pictures ..

well done you ..Grin

Holy cow...is that an Avro Vulcan?! Do they still have those??? AWESOME. I looove the Vulcan and the Victor (Handley-Page Victor, I think. My brother and I used to go through my dad's old Air Pictorial mags when we were kids).

And at 20x zoom too! Niiice, Carol Smile

Andrew

Lovely shots of the preserved Vulcan, a finely restored and preserved V-Bomber, which used to provide part of our nuclear deterrent!!!! Smile

It is the Avro Vulcan Delta Bomber - XH558. The only flying Vulcan in the world.
