I have tried to capture the glare of the sun along with it's tranquil mood. This was taken 1/9/11 at Foremark Reservoir near Derby. Any advice good or bad on how to improve this shot would be very welcome.
Thanks
Martin

The light and silhouette is spot on, and I like the way you have framed it using the branches, but the frame is a little heavy and dominates the image rather than presents it. Technically I don't think there is anything to improve other than this little bit of compositioni it is an excellent shot.

Thanks Steve,
I agree with you about the branches. I will wait for the next sunset and try again.

When human figures are introduced into an image they tend to take a disproportionate emphasis to their size. As such I think the framing is spot on with three (magical number) sections of equal standing. I don't think the image would have the same balance if you cut down (figuratively not literally) the foliage. I might slice a little of the bottom black but overall I think this is a lovely silhouette, well composed and executed.

(I do stand to be corrected and will apologize profusely to Steve when you prove me wrong on your next visit)

Thanks Dave,
I will try and alter the picture in my old Microsoft Digital Image 2006 in as many ways that are suggested. I was thinking of having it made into a wall canvas, but I feel that something is not quite right.
Thanks for the suggestion.
