Have taken the liberty of offering a Mod, Victor. Not sure what you will make of it! But hope you might like it.
Ronnie.

Hi,

Great capture of all the colour - that's a really vibrant sunflower!

The space out to the left of the photo is unnecessary and almost a little distracting. I like how you have used DoF to blur the background but because the background is also yellow I feel it kind of interferes with the petals of the flower.

I think Ronnie's mod gets in spot on - I like the effect of the square crop as it loses the background and emphasises the curve of the petal.

Also, at first glance I didn't even see that wasp/ bee on the petals so it might be worth while to remove it. Now I can see I wish I hadn't.

I like the colours and the photo but I think with a slightly tighter crop the impact of the photo is greater.

My thoughts,

Ben

Very nice image and a joy to see someone get in close and crop hard. I like your original, I like the mod even more.

Ronnie, Ben, Frank and Paul,
Appreciate your feedback very much, in my opinion the beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, some like it hot and some like it cold! My original thought was that "sun" ought to have space for it's glow!

Thank you all, please keep sending your thoughts, it is a great way to connenct

Those colours are spectacular!

As for the composition, I personally prefer the original uncropped version with regard to the flower's position.
I would however, do some serious blurring and some de-saturation with the background.

I think your comment is perfectly valid, Victor, but in order to let it glow as you describe, it would still be a good idea, I feel, to dull down the b/g a bit, so I have offered a second mod. with that in mind. Do you prefer Mod 2 to Mod 1?
Ronnie.

The mod I didn't have time for last night!

As I said above, I prefer the original in terms of composition so I've kept its original dimensions. To lift the colours even further, I separated the bloom from the back ground using the magnetic lasso and increased it's tone by about 20%.
Then I lassoed the background, reduced the exposure -0.3, reduced saturation -15 and applied gaussian blur at 15px.

Hope it's OK.

Bren.
