Sunset over the Ambassador Bridge.
Spring thaw still as there was huge chunks of ice floating in the river so it was difficult to get a reflection shot.
Sun just started to go down and there was a dark pink hue to the sky which lead into a dark purple hue which I liked.
All shot with D3100, 50mm f/1.8, 6sec, f22
Please let me know what you like, didn't like, where to improve on, etc...

The colors and silky water are well done. My only suggestion would have been to compose it so the upright of the bridge fell into a thirds position. The right side of the image doesn't have as much interest as the left side. By using the rule of thirds, it would have been better balanced.

Thanks for the comment. I tried to get a wider shot of the bridge, and didn't want to crop it. If I would have changed the angle of the shot, I would have had railings, and tree's in the left side of the shot. Kinda limited on the focal range with the 50mm that I was shooting at. I tried to keep the bridge on the left side of the thirds to try and get the shot I was going for. When I get my 35mm f/1.8, I am going to go back and take the same shot to get a wide shot.
Thanks again.
the bit i really love is the water, so beauifully rendered its an image in its own right as a pattern.
the sky looks a little heavy in relationship to the water, almost as if its been subject to excessive grad filtering yet i suspect its as taken without. either way it would lighten a litttle. also some of the lights on the bank are a little bright and overpowering and some of the brighter ones could be cloned out quite easiliy.
for f22 the bridge dosnt look crisp enough and im wondering how you supported the camera, if it was solid enough on the tripod or if you considered mirror lock up to prevent shake during the long exposure. or even did you have optical stabilisers whilst using a tripod. something has induced slight camera shake during the exposue.
i guess its hard to speak about a location not having beeg there, but i think it would be compositionally stronger if you could get nearer to the bridge with a wider angle lens in order to bring a stronger diagonal across the composition with the bridge springing from the top left.
for all that its a lovely scene and the colours and water are spectactular
regards
Phil
