Normally, one would find the background distracting. Too many lines, too much colour! Yet, it works. The subject's is powerfully delineated while bathed in very soft tones. As such, the background does what it should by bringing texture and contrasting lines and colour that bring equilibrium (and peace) to the image. Paul
