A selection of images of the different species of butterflies I've seen at Swelshill Bank and Rodborough Common near Stroud this spring and summer. Looking back over the year I've been fortunate to see a number of different varieties including some nationallly rare ones. Swelshill Bank and Rodborough Common are managed by the National Trust and over 50% of the UK's native butterflies have been recorded there.

V1 - A female adonis blue resting on a blade of grass taken during some rare fine late spring weather
V2 - A brown argus nectaring on a field scabious, taken over the August Bank Holiday weekend
V3 - A pair of adonis blues mating, taken at the same time as V2
V4 - A male adonis blue butterfly basking in some late summer sunshine
V5 - A male chalkhill blue and a female brown vying for position on a field scabious, taken at the end of July on a day out with fellow epzer "Looloobey", Louise
V6 - A male adonis blue butterfly on some birds foot trefoil, taken in late May on the same day as v1 was taken
V7 - A meadow brown taken at Swelshill Bank on a visit in late July with epzer Looloobey
V8 - A female chalkhill blue and a six spot burnet moth nectaring on a field scabious at the end of August
V9 - A gatekeeper taken at Rodborough Common on a day out in late July with epzer Looloobey
V10 - A small skipper taken in the rough grassland close to the carpark at the foot of Rodborough Common on a day out with epzer Looloobey in late July

Excellent set of the different species, Ed: with so many great shots it's not easy to single out one as favourite but if pushed I'd possibly settle for V 5.

Wonderful set of such varied butterflies and moths.
Had Carol not spotted it, I'd never have noticed or recognised a tick!
Lovely light in V9 and V10.
I think V7 is my outright winner.

There are some thumbs, you know from the start who's image is popping up. A great set once again, well done with each of them Ed.
