Thanks to a hint from Trev {achieverswales} I managed to come up with this half decent shot with my Tamron Macro lens which thus far had defeated me and I had consigned to a cupboard.
So I dedicate this one to Trev without whose help the shot would not have been achieved.

My thanks also for all the comments on More or Less and with special thanks to Ray {Billyray} for his UA which is much appreciated.

Ronnie.

The soft glow in the orchids is intriguing! I wonder how you made them look as if there is the moonlight caught in every single flower?
Very beautiful

Must just be from the white card reflector, Annette: the only light source was dull daylight through the kitchen window (hence my referring to my KS studio..ie..kitchen sink studio)

I think you should try more with this lens, the colors and reflected light on the orchids is quite above the ordinary-- a special technique in the making me thinks!

Wow! This is a super beauty. You inspire one to go to the florist and buy their best, bring it home and attempt the same as you have done here. Never saw anything quite like this bloom, and so richly presented. TG

Glad to see you are using a Tamron Lens. They appear to be somewhat like Marmite in the Photography World, however who could possibly fault them when they are able to produce such wonderfully bright and crisp images as this.

Nicely captured Ronnie, a good presentation. I have taken similar images but instead of using black card I use the TV screen as a background and find it works well with natural daylight.

One day I might be able to do something this good Ronnie, yes the glow is from the reflector, I recognise it from some of my fumblings with this skill that you have honed.

in my KS studio I used a sheet of kitchen towel as a reflector Tongue

I don't know whether this is the light, reflector or lens but the image seems to have a luminescence about it. Of course it could be my eyesight! or computer!! Beautiful detail and colour, and the shape in the black on EPZ black does work well.

Many thanks Ronnie for the dedication of this beautiful capture, you will find that a prime lens will beat a zoom for sharpness anytime, "BUT" Some of these new zooms are awesome and would be hard pressed to spot any difference, the colours once again with the black B/G is excellent, as stated they have a luman luamar lumir (shine) to them sorry cant spell luminescenceWink

I love the arch that the natural flower produces Ronnie, your technique and attention to detail is something special, the reflector helped to bring out the beautiful colours and detail which stand out against the dark background, top class work as always, another photograph to be very proud of. When are you going to publish a book with your beautiful flower images ?,I am quite sure it would sell very well. Hope you are well my friend, Bill.
