This is just off Taksim Square in Istanbul. It pains me to see what is going on there now. My heart goes out to the people of Turkey. When we vacationed there two summers ago we fell in love with the country and its gracious people.

A great thought Walter , I hope they succeed. Turkey must go back to Atatürk's model, no religious but a democratic Turkey
And your night shot is great, I can smell it.

Really sad. I think everyone here hopes that everything gets back to the model Attaturk left.

Wonderful shot, Walter. Thank you for the sentiment and to Annette and Harriet for their good wishes. That's what people were there for.

Another great street scene Walter. You may be the only person on the planet who saw this precise moment & wonderful expresion, that you have captured it, & shared it with the rest of us, is a great service, thank you.

Some years ago I read Louis L'amour, Rivers West & he wrote something about revolution that moved me. Can't remember exact words but worth reading the whole book just for it.

Best regards, Si.

I have been following events, including a fascinating online report that I cannot track down now, highlighting the individual activities going on, from the First Aid tent to a make-shift museum.
The park in question seems more important than yet another shopping development, parks are a city's lungs. It's about the morality of a regime that puts its own interests of whatever kind above the needs of its people.

There's getting fewer and fewer places to visit and feel comfortably safe anymore. So sad for the people. This is a great capture of the people enjoying themselves......Sandy

Walter, the photo is great! The vendor's face shows his complete engagement in the transaction. One can feel his energy and salesmanship.

On the side of politics I must admit that I am jealous of the Turks, here the situation is almost unbearable but nobody seems to "start the fire" like the song says...
