I can't possibly express myself any more than Kate, "What a difference a slight modification makes"

Hello Billy,

Well done, it's really good to see that you are practicing and showing the alteration's your making. A few weeks ago you didn't know how to straighten an image let alone clone out things that you felt you didn't want in your image. It shows you've taken on board things that have been said and applying them when needed to your images, it's just down to practice, on a copy I must add.
In the mod I have done nothing to the tones or contrast etc but I have cropped some off the left and then added some more to the right. This as placed the ship more on a third and given it more room in the image to sail away into.

Keep practicing

Martin

What a super image, Billy, and you have successfully transformed it, giving it a completely different time of day, cloning out the buoys and levelling the horizon. Congratulations.
So, how else can it be improved? Composition has already been touched upon. Your ship is in the centre of the frame. In my modification I cropped the left side, and left the right side as it is, because that is where the ship is heading. Rather than crop the left-hand rock too much, I copy/pasted it further to the right. Now the ship sits on the left thirds intersection. I also cropped a bit of water from the bottom, in order to end up with one third water and two thirds sky on the vertical. After that, I did a levels adjustment, to brighten the colours and increase the contrast, although I realise this may not be your desire.
Some may call this minimalist, but it has tremendous atmosphere.
Pamela.

Your best shot by far Billy, and you mod is very good.

In addition to the above comments re composition, its looks better with the horizon on a third, as well as the ship, and to do that requires adding height, which Ive done in a mod. This involves adding more canvas, and filling the emptyu canvas with the background. As you may notice in the mod, the sky is stretched into the added space.

A Gold Star from me.

regards

Willie

Billy, I really like it. The process you made, is excellent. The light is awesome and giving the warm and showing the evening nuance. and the ship is really a great focal point.

And maybe for the future it will be better if the ship is not in the middle but in one third like the other had been said.
